Amazon’s reported Temu-like discount store likened to ‘slap in the face’ by sellers

Amazon sellers are bracing for yet more challenges after reports that the e-commerce giant plans to launch a Temu-like bargain section in an apparent bid to fend off growing competition from e-commerce platforms including Temu and Shein, which are known for their head-scratchingly low prices.


 

Paper Plus breaches bank covenants, seeks capital raise


Paper Plus New Zealand is likely to go to its members for capital after breaching its banking covenants.


Its annual statements made public on the Companies Office on Tuesday, show the group made a total loss of $553,000 in the year to March 31, 2024.

Sir Stephen Tindall, founder of the retail giant The Warehouse, and a private equity firm have approached the company to buy up shares in the business.

In celebration of their 200th anniversary, Cadbury’s Give a Cheer to a Volunteer campaign is harnessing generative AI to celebrate the unsung heroes of community sports in Australia and New Zealand. The AI-powered tool then generates a 3D, animated character starring in a shareable video that recognises their contribution.


 

KFC unveils Christmas in July at world-first Colonel’s Lodge

With every purchase of $30 or more in the KFC app this month, Australian customers can enter the draw to win a trip to stay in the festive-themed KFC lodge. The winners will enjoy an unlimited supply of KFC Christmas spreads and the services of a KFC lodge butler.


 

Retailers struggling as electronic card spending falls, costs increase

Retailers are hanging on to their storefronts by their fingertips as customers spend less and costs for wages, insurance and freight go up.

Stats NZ figures show electronic card spending fell 0.6 percent in June, while the value of sales had dropped 4.9 percent on a year ago.



 

Wimbledon reimagines the Ticket Resale experience

The Wimbledon Ticket Resale program allows guests leaving Centre Court, Court 1, and Court 2 to return their tickets, which are then resold to ground pass holders. All the money raised from Ticket Resale goes to charity.
